about me

Hi, my name is Vincent, let me tell you a bit about myself.

I have lived a long and stable life, sheltered first at home in the city of my birth, Pittsburgh, the 2nd of four children, we lived in the city proper, though it seemed like a big playground to us.  We played every sport, though not at a high level for sure, studied and navigated through school and childhood friendships. We sheltered every pet one could have, explored the local hills, creeks, and parks; thus sparked my interest in nature beyond the city limits. Though different in ages and personalities, we all thrived with the support of a traditional family structure.

At college I majored in engineering for the sake of a career, though biology was a true and unpursued love.  And then off to see the country and eventually the whole wide world, 44 years with Chevron Corporation.  Surrounded with close and extended family members who have also thrived and succeeded in their lives.

I have tried to expand my horizons, first through reading (history and biology and cosmology, social studies, biographies, and fiction) and lifelong learning. Then eventually through travel, partnerships, and great friendships.  In this next phase of my life there remain goals to achieve.  I will learn new skills, write a great novel, and endeavor to contribute to environmental solutions within and beyond our local community. I am an introvert by nature; I observe people and I take notes in a commonplace book and have constructed bits and pieces of my nascent writing.  I hope to share some of that writing with the readers on this site.

These interests have been anchored through a late to life love of running in all its forms, constant every day.  Oh, the places I have seen, the friends I have run with, those who have touched me in large and small ways.  Life is grand.
